About the game
Description
Value stream mapping (VSM) is a method for improving information and material flows to synchronize them with customer orders. The method is also an excellent communication tool for effective cooperation between participants and departments supporting processes.
The method is particularly useful. when we want to take a broad look at the relationships between processes, identify key issues, and improve the stability and performance of our processes. Lean is all about flow. and everything that hinders it should be removed!
The goal of the game
Practical presentation of flow improvement to maximize the value delivered to the customer, eliminate waste, reduce Lead Time of orders.
Gameplay
The game is implemented in 3-4 rounds, between which participants decide on a strategy of action aimed at implementation, improvement, optimization and standardization of the process.
Participants implement changes in material and information flow. In subsequent rounds, we examine how these changes have affected Lead Time, material supply of workstations, production batch sizes; inventory volumes; communication and cooperation in the value stream.
Process
The subject of improvement is manufacturing and assembly processes for volleyball serving machines. Products are available in 3 variants with different types of finishes. The start of the process at individual stations is carried out with assumed batch processing values.
The simulation uses a multi-threaded production process. As participants implement changes, based on logistical and financial results, they observe the effects of implementing a pull system in the organization.
